A new day is dawning at New Creation as we enter the fall. Do you realize that God has blessed us with six interns? And not only that, but we’ve added an Audio/Visual Tech person to our team as well!

Drew Niemeier will continue to serve as our worship intern.  This will be Drew’s last semester with us before his graduation from Ozark Christian College.

Ben Whetstone will be interning with our college students. Ben is currently studying philosophy at MSSU and has natural gifts in evangelism.

Scott Yount will be serving as our children’s ministries intern. Scott is currently studying at MSSU and has served on Kid’s Day Out Staff this past summer.

Just back from India, Matt Parks will be serving as a Youth Ministries Intern. Matt is a psychology major at MSSU. He is a Resident Advisor in the men’s dorm.

Brand new to New Creation are Kevin Bray and Michael Thomas. Both are studying for youth ministry at Ozark Christian college. Kevin comes to us from Kansas. Michael from Oklahoma.

J.D. Miller is our new A/V Tech person. He is currently completing his degree from OCC. Though he is not interning with us we are delighted to have  him join our team!

Be sure to congratulate our interns on their new positions.

Our interns will participate in weekly Bible study and planning sessions. While they have significant responsibilities in leadership it is of vital importance that all of us volunteer to serve alongside of them.

Wednesday Nite Dinner and Study

On September 16th New Creation  will launch our first evening dinner and study group. Karen Brock and Martha Brehm will be coordinating this effort.

The evening will begin with a light meal at 5:30 p.m. followed by a study from 6:00 - 6:55 p.m. We will need various folks to help with this. Kid’s activities will be provided.

We’re trying to come up with a creative name for this study. Share your best ideas with Karen.

Praise Team will be switching their rehearsals from Thursday evening to Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. so that they can participate.

Cliff’s Notes:                     A Dream For New Creation

Do you have a dream for New Creation? I have a lot of dreams about this church that I love so much.

One of the most important dreams that I have for New Creation is that we would all have servant hearts. That we would take time out of our busy schedules to volunteer to teach, offer hospitality, help with the kids and youth ministries, welcome college students into our homes, assist with the set-up and clean-up of different activities and just say “yes” to helping out where there is a need.

I’ve heard it said that the healthiest churches have people who “see a need... meet a need.” I like that motto. I also know a lot of folks at New Creation who are like that. When the call goes out they don’t hesitate to say “yes!”

So many churches are filled with people who sit back for the show, but ask them to lift a finger and they somehow disappear. That’s why most  churches live by the “Paraedo Principle” where 20% of the people do 80% of the work. Yuk! Let it never be said about New Creation!!

Throughout this newsletter you can read about all kinds of ministry activities… kids, youth, college, adult etc. Ask yourself… “where are there needs for volunteers… and where can I make a difference?” You see, there is nothing quite so beautiful as a church where 100% of the people do 100% of the work!       - With Love in Jesus                                                Pastor Cliff

Kids Church

It’s such a challenge to find a new church… and when you have kids… WOW! You definitely want a place where your kids are going to want to be a part of things.

Many at New Creation have recognized that we have a huge need to do more to connect with kids 1st thru 5th grade) on Sunday mornings. For this reason we will be starting a new Kid’s Church ministry on Sunday September 13th. Mid-way through our worship service children will be dismissed to join our children’s ministries intern Scott Yount and his team of volunteers for a worship experience geared more toward the elementary age group.

We currently have two volunteers working with Scott. In order to establish a strong rotation of leaders we are praying that three more volunteers who have hearts for kids will step up to the plate and serve in this very important area. For more information call Scott Yount at 317-1875.

A.S.K. “After School Kids” Club

Walk the streets around New Creation sometime after school lets out and you’ll find that they are teaming with children. Hundreds of them! Many of them have no church home and home life for them is sometimes very difficult. Most don’t have the foggiest idea about faith in Jesus. All of them want to be loved.

New Creation has an amazing opportunity to reach these kids for Christ every Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with our new after school ministry slated to kick-off on September 23rd.

We’ll have snacks, games, singing, prayer, Bible Stories and tutoring. It’s a pretty fast moving afternoon and we’ll need all the help we can get. If you think you might be able to help instruct reading, writing or arithmetic with children Kindergarten through fifth grade, we need your help. If you can provide and serve snacks on any given afternoon… we need your help. If you like to lead games or singing… we need your help. If you can put an arm around a kid to encourage them… we need your help! Call Scott at 317-1875.

He’s In The Army Now

If you haven't met Tony Brazas yet you’re probably the only one at New Creation who hasn’t. Tony has been at NCC since the Sunday we moved into our building. His infectious enthusiasm and delightfully friendly spirit has brought a great deal of joy to all of us. Tony is truly family.

This November Tony’s life will dramatically change as he has made the commitment to join our nation’s armed forces as a part of the Army Airborne Infantry. Please remember Tony and all of our troops in prayer. We’re going to miss you brother!

RUMMAGE  SALE

Yes! Finally!! It’s here!!! After all of the delays we’re finally ready for our first-ever rummage sale SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12th. We will accept contributions for the sale right up until Friday the 11th. If you need assistance with pick-up or drop-off please call the church offices at 782-8200. Watch your junk turn into gems! Remember that the proceeds go toward our children’s ministries.

We need volunteers to help with our final set-up on Friday (or any day the week before). We also need people who will help out with the sale itself.

TUESDAY LUNCH

This Tuesday (September 8th) a group of New Creationists will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. to help organize our rummage sale items. Afterwards we’ll be heading to lunch at RYANS about 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate! RSVP with Jean Seibert @ 437-7002.

So invite your friends, family, cousins, the popular kids at school, the nerds, the geeks, the jocks, your goldfish, and, of course, your school principal (uh, okay, maybe they are just grown-up kids, but you don’t need to invite them!). Time to get fired-up!!!

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

How do you know the events in the Bible were real? What do you say to the skeptics who challenge the evidence for your faith? Elder Dan Hanschu along with Michael Rood will be your guides throughout an exploration of faith strengthening archaeological discoveries. The Sinai Connection Sunday School Class will begin Sunday September 13th.

Additionally, we will launch The Prodigal God series by Tim Keller on the 13th. Tim Keller is an amazing teacher and church planter from Manhattan (NYC). This class is excellent for those unfamiliar with the teachings of the Christian faith or for those who are longing for a bold, fresh understanding of the Gospel. (This class will be repeated later this year.)

Both of these classes will be excellent opportunities for strengthening your faith!

September Prayer Page and Scripture Reading

Nobody ever got anything from God on the grounds that he deserved it. Haven fallen, man deserves only punishment and death. So if God answers prayer it's  because God is good. From His goodness, His loving kindness, His good-natured benevolence, God does it! That's the source of everything.

-A. W. Tozer

We would like to expand our volunteer base, however, and create a consistent rotation. If you would like to volunteer in the nursery please see Karen Brock. to get in the rotation.

COLLEGE AND CAREERS

Young men and women between 18 and 30 are often the most dynamic people participating in churches today… yet very few churches seem to attract people in this age range. By God’s grace New Creation has been blessed with a wonderful group of college aged men and women in this age range. In the days ahead we will hold gatherings after worship in people’s homes as well as hold spontaneous events and retreats. Ben Whetstone is serving as our College Ministries Intern and Pastor Cliff is on campus at least twice a week. Be sure to welcome our students!

An Awesome Summer!!!

If there is one thing this summer proved it was that New Creation has the capacity to reach a lot of kids for Christ. Thanks to Sharon Sherrod and at least fifteen to twenty volunteers many children experienced the love of God over the past few months. There were games, songs, swimming, Bible stories, museums, hiking on Shoal Creek, MacAroo Gym, and so much more. To top it off we had a fantastic Vacation Bible School with SonRock Kid’s Camp. Many thanks to    everyone who volunteered!

Let’s keep up the great work as we reach kids for Christ!
