BLOCK PARTY

The weather is getting hot and so is New Creation! Our very first block party is right around the corner on May 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We’re inviting the whole neighborhood for burgers and dogs on the grill as well as ice cream sundaes. The New Creation Band will be performing. We’ll have games for the kids including carnival games and bounce toys. Of course there will be plenty of time to enjoy meeting our neighbors.

To insure the success of this event our elders are asking that everyone volunteer for some area. We need about 10 people to assist with games for kids… please let Beth Hanschu or Sharon Sherrod know if you can help. We need another 10 folks to assist with the set up of the stage and sound system outside as well as tables and chairs. We need 6 to help us set up & serve food. We have three master chefs (by our standards) manning the grills… oh yes, if you have a charcoal grill that you can loan the church please let us know. If you need assistance transporting to the church we can help. We need everyone to help clean-up. Call the church to let us know where you can help! 782-8200.

We’re  asking  everyone to bring a bag of munchies to share. If you have lawn chairs… bring as many as you can.

Saturday May 2nd we’ll be distributing flyers beginning at 10 am when we meet at the church. If you can assist at another time give us a call. In the meantime, we’re lookin’ forward to seeing ya there!

Would you like to formalize your commitment to the New Creation family? Check out the new members Inquirer’s class coming up May 17th and 31st  following Sunday School. Discover more about our beliefs and vision as well as what it means to belong to the New Creation family.  These two classes will also include a delicious lunch as well childcare. Class will conclude prior to 2 p.m. Please sign-up in Fellowship Hall or call the church office at 782-8200.

Keep in mind that these classes are designed to allow you to visit with leaders about New Creation. Simply participating in our classes does not commit you to membership.

Cliff’s Notes: HEARTS, HEADS, HANDS, and FEET

I’m a bit of a rebel. I can’t sit by and settle for the same old same old when I see people, families, marriages and kids torn apart by drugs, divorce, poverty, perversion and a general sense of meaninglessness. I’ve never much wanted to be a part of a church that seems oblivious to that kind of stuff.

When I think about the things I love about New Creation Church it’s really easy for me to start making lists. One thing is clear, the people of New Creation take seriously the things of God.

How do I know? I see an increasing passion for worship for one thing. Settling for the same old same old in worship isn't what we’re about. We’re all heart!

I’ve also witnessed a hunger and thirst to go deeper in our understanding of God’s Word… His will and His ways. We use our heads!

But things don’t stop there. I’ve noticed that we have a ministry of interruptions. We let other people into our lives. When someone has a concern we stop and pray with them. When someone has a need we do our best to try and meet it. We’re not stingy people! We’re quick to extend our hands.

Have you noticed that many of us have been hitting the streets? We’re not afraid to go door-to-door or to send short-term missionaries overseas. We use our feet!

What a cool church God’s entrusted to us. I love being a part of New Creation! I hope you do too!!

With Love in Jesus -   Pastor Cliff

NEW CREATION GUIDING PRINCIPLES

At New Creation Church our styles and methods may change, but our principles never will….

Bible We believe the Bible is God’s true, inspired Word and the final authority for each person’s faith and conduct. God calls each of us to study, believe, proclaim, teach and apply God’s Word as life-giving truth.  (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Joshua 1:8, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Worship  We believe worship is the chief means of glorifying God and leads believers to a passionate relationship with Father, Son & Holy Spirit. (1 Chr 16:23-36, Ps 95:6, Jn 4:24, Rom 12:1, Phil 2:10-11)

Prayer We believe God calls us to an intimate personal relationship with Him that is passionately expressed in prayer. As one body we are also called to expressions of prayers of adoration, confession, thanksgiving, & supplication. (Prv 15:29; Lk 19:46; Acts 1:14; 2:42; 1 Jn 5:14-15)

Evangelism We believe that all people are created in God’s image and matter deeply to Him. Jesus calls us to deliver his message of truth and salvation to the lost with enthusiasm, love, compassion and genuine hospitality. (Gn 1:27, Ps 139:13-16, Matt 24:14; 28:18-20, Mk 1:14-18)

Discipleship   We believe discipleship is the transforming process which equips a believer to grow into a new life of prayer, holiness and an ever maturing relationship with Christ. (Lev 11:45, Rom 12:2, 1Thess 5:11, Heb 6:1-3; 12:1-3, Eph 6:18; 4:11-12, 2 Co 5:17)

Service We believe servanthood is a lifestyle of ministry every believer embraces in response to God’s grace requiring creativity, energy, and excellence according to each believer’s spiritual gifts. We are called to ministry in the place and among the people where God has planted us. (Mk 10: 43-45; 1 Cor 12, Eph 6:7)

Community  We believe that new life in Christ is lived out, not as isolated individuals, but in an authentic community of loving relationships, including marriages and families, friendships and small groups. (Jn 13:34-35; 17:20-23, Acts 2:44-47, 1 Cor 1:10; 12:12-13, Heb 10:25, )

Missions We believe that the church is missional by nature and is responsible for nurturing people spiritually, physically, and emotionally in practical ways throughout the neighborhood, community, nation and world. (Acts 1:8, Jas 1:27, Matt 28)

Generosity We believe that every Christ-follower is called to reflect the abundant generosity of God as we give of the time, energy, money and resources entrusted to us. God challenges us to begin with a 10% tithe in all that we offer Him. (Prov 3:9-10; 22:9, Mal 3:10, Matt 25:14-30, 2 Cor 8:1-7; 9:6-8,1 Tim 6:17-18)

Encouragement  We believe that followers of Christ are to come alongside and “pour courage into” one another, especially the lonely, forgotten, the sick, the grieving, the poor, and those who minister to them. (Heb 10:24-25; Matt 25:31-46)

Leadership  We believe true leadership is exhibited through those dedicated to honoring God, living with integrity, following Christ’s example of servanthood, & setting a clear vision for the Church while being accountable to God and the people they serve. Our leaders must be willing to step out with a bold faith & take risks. (Matt 17:20; 19:26; Prv 29:18; Jas 4:2; Jn 14:13-14; 1Tim 3, Titus 1:5-9)

Creativity We believe God created people in His image and are, thus, by nature creative. Therefore we are called to incorporate spiritually dynamic & innovative creativity at every level of our life together to the end that God is glorified and His followers spiritually enriched. (Genesis 1:27: 2:19-23).

MAY PRAYER PAGE

Thank God for all the marvelous organization there is in Christian work, for medical missions and finely educated missionaries, for aggressive work in every shape and form; but the key is not in any of our organizations, the key lies exactly to our hand by our Lord’s instruction, “Pray.”

-Oswald Chambers

If you have an extra room or know of someone who does and would like a house guest please speak with Joseph and Amanda or speak with Pastor Cliff.

MISSION FUNDS NEEDED

In just three weeks Joseph Hobbs and Amanda O’Day along with other Christian students from Missouri Southern will travel to Western Asia on mission. They will be connecting with Islamic students concerning the gospel. Matt Parks will be linking up with Dr. Clement and the Sram-Ashrams of India this summer. He will assist in teaching classes and various life skills. Each of these students need financial assistance for the short-term mission work that they are doing. Please consider making a contribution to the “New Creation Student Mission Fund.”

SCRIPTURE MEMORY

“ 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death—  even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
