BLOCK PARTY JULY 5th!

Mark your calendars! Invite your friends and bring your families! New Creation has scheduled our second neighborhood block party of the season.

This will be a tremendous opportunity for us to strengthen our connections with people in the neighborhood. Back by popular demand will be our Praise team along with lots of food, carnival games, bouncy castle, train and maybe even a dunk tank! We are praying that everyone at New Creation will join in the fun!

In fact, we need everyone to volunteer to help with set-up and clean-up, cooking, and games etc. Please be sure to let us know where you will volunteer.

We’ll also be hosting world champion power lifter Mike Ewoldson who can lift 1,000 pounds of weight and tear entire phone books in half with his bare hands!

We’ve also been offered the use of our neighbor’s “Duce and a Half” as a band stand. You may have seen it occasionally parked in our lot.

In addition to brining your friends and neighbors please bring  as many lawn chairs and games as you can along with something delicious you can share with others.

Cliff’s Notes: Do You Feel the Urgency?

When I was a kid there were so many things I couldn’t wait to do. Remember those times? I couldn’t wait for summer to come. I couldn’t wait for the Fourth of July. I couldn’t wait to see my friends. I couldn’t wait to grow up!

As I grew up and matured in Christ I began to realize that I had a new sense of urgency which wasn’t so much event oriented as it is people oriented. When I look at the world I cannot help but to see the millions of children who are growing up without a mother, father, or family. Fewer and fewer people are raised in church or go to church. Belief in anything other than self has led our nation to a collective amnesia of basic rights and wrongs. I don’t like sounding negative, but it seems that all of our so-called freedoms have led us down a path of massive instability, meaninglessness, and abuse.

It’s true that people need “hope that you can believe in”, but whether we know it or not that hope isn’t in any old human being… but believable hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ.         So when I wake up in the morning and look at a world that screams out for help and hope I think of Jesus’ words, “The fields are white with the harvest.” What does that mean? It means that there are many people who are urgently ready to receive the Gospel of ultimate, unshakable hope.

So when I wake up in the morning I feel the hope of Jesus and the urgency to bring the Good News to those desperately needing to receive it. I pray every day that everyone at New Creation senses that same urgency and joins me as Christ’s loving witnesses.  Love in Christ - Pastor Cliff

DISCOVER THE REASON FOR GOD!

Why does God allow suffering in the world? How could a loving God send people to Hell? Why isn’t Christianity more inclusive? How can one religion be “right” and the others “wrong”? Why have so many wars been fought in the name of God?

These are just a few of the questions and doubts even ardent believers wrestle with today. Timothy Keller, one of America’s leading preachers and theologians, addresses these questions in his very thoughtful book “The Reason For God.”

If you’re looking for terrific summer reading and an opportunity for thoughtful discussion please join us every Wednesday at 12 noon in the conference room. The cost of the book is $15.- (scholarships available). Please bring a bag lunch or a couple of dollars to help defray the cost of pizza and pop.

Please feel free to invite your friends… skeptical or not!

RUMMAGE SALE

We need your old stuff! Turn your junk into gems by bringing in items of all types that can be used for our upcoming rummage sale. Our hope is to raise money for our Kid’s Day Out, VBS and youth programs. Please call the office ahead of time and let us know when you’ll be bringing things by. We are storing rummage items in the basement “ping pong” room. Target Date: Aug 7-8

MOVIE NITES

Keep your eyes peeled for bulletin announcements, e-mails and posters for movie nites. We hope to show a variety of films on Friday evenings throughout the summer. If you can help monitor things on movie nites please contact our offices and let us know when you are available. We’re also hoping to do a special evening for couples when we show “Fireproof”. If you can help sponsor this let us know.

SUMMER GIVING

As you vacation this summer please remember the needs of the church. Your generous gifts, tithes and offerings are vital for the sustenance of our young church. Keep in mind that our church operates on a week-to-week budget. We do not have any reserves to fall back on. God bless you!

IT’S TOUGH BEING A WOMAN

Did you know that 22 women showed up at New Creation for our first Beth Moore Bible Study? WOW! It’s not too late to get on board for this fantastic new study on the Book of Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman. Going up against heavyweights bent on her destruction, Esther trusted God and landed a blow that saved her people. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's woman. Esther's destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner.

Join Beth in an in-depth and very personal examination of this great story of threat and deliverance. She peels back the layers of history and shows how very contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to our lives. If you've ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the study for you. Just as it was tough being a woman in Esther's day, it's tough today. This portion of God's Word contains treasures to aid us in our hurried, harried, and pressured lives.

YOUTH GROUP RETREAT

Mark your calendar for our sun, swim and ski retreat on July 30th - August 1st. We will be heading down to the Brehm’s lake house on Beaver Lake. Cost is $5. per person to help defray the cost of food. This is a great opportunity for you to invite your friends for a fantastic weekend of fun in the sun! Space is limited so reserve your spot with $5 at the church office.

Come prepared for a lot of swimming, water skiing, tubing, jet skiing, and most importantly for spiritual growth and Bible study!

Be sure to sign-up as soon as possible with Joseph.

JULY PRAYER PAGE

AND SCRIPTURE READINGS

"Love is kindled in a flame, and ardency is its life. Flame is the air which true Christian experience breathes. It feeds on fire; it can withstand anything rather than a feeble flame; but when the surrounding atmosphere is frigid or lukewarm, it dies, chilled and starved to its vitals. True prayer must be aflame."  - E.M. Bounds

Please take time to pray daily for the church, family, friends, yourself and for or that...
